How do you make your money?

Suppliers pay us a commission when you take a contract we've arranged. It's included in your unit rate (pence per kWh) and/or standing charge (pence per day). We don't invoice you separately. More on our commission page.

So is your service free?

Requesting a quote is free and there's no obligation. But if you sign a contract through us, our commission is part of the rates you pay. We'll explain it before you agree, and tell you the amount in your quote if you ask.

Do I have to speak to anyone on the phone?

No. You can do everything by email: send a bill, read our written comparison and confirm your choice. If you'd prefer a call, include your number and say so.

What details do you need?

Your latest bill for each supply. It contains the MPAN or MPRN, consumption, rates and supplier name. Your contract end date helps too.

What does a Letter of Authority do?

It allows suppliers to share your account information with us so we can obtain accurate prices. It doesn't commit you to switching.

Is it too early to talk about my renewal?

Rarely. Suppliers will often quote months before your end date. Exiting a contract early is a different thing and can involve fees, which we'll check first.

Will switching interrupt my supply?

No. The physical supply doesn't change, only the company that bills you.

What should I do when I move into new premises?

Read the meters on day one and send us the address and date. Without a contract you'll usually pay deemed rates, so acting quickly helps.

Can my business change water retailer?

Most businesses in England and Scotland can. In Wales, it's limited to very large users. See Water.

What if I'm unhappy with your service?

Tell us and we'll try to put it right. If it's still unresolved after 8 weeks, or we issue a final "deadlock" response, eligible customers can go to the Energy Ombudsman for free. See Complaints.
